The results of the 2008-2009 lottery are now available for kindergarten applicants. We are at capacity in grades 1-8. Applicants who participated in the lottery for these grade levels will receive a letter notifying them of their position on the waitlist. We thank you for your patience during the admission process.
Keys Gate Charter School
Welcome to Keys Gate Charter School, located in Homestead, Florida. We are a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades Kindergarten through 8. Keys Gate Charter School is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools and provides Homestead with a neighborhood school of choice.
Mission
The Keys Gate Charter School will provide students with the necessary tools and skills needed to develop superior levels of achievement. We will strive for academic, social and physical excellence by providing a quality and challenging curriculum. We will promote positive moral and social values, foster an atmosphere of self-discipline in a safe learning environment, and maximize individual productivity to meet the needs of a changing global society. Students of the Keys Gate Charter School will be able to maximize their potential for successfully ascertaining their goals with confidence and intrinsic motivation, thereby enabling each student to become a lifelong learner and strong functional contributor to their local community as well as their global community.
What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are part of a sweeping educational reform that places the highest priority on providing a better education. Charter schools are tuition free and are funded much like a public school, but each charter school is governed privately. Private governance places accountability squarely on the shoulders of the entity running the schools. Every dollar spent through the charter school system is focused on furthering each student’s education. Unlike traditional public schools, charter schools must demonstrate success, or they will lose their charter. Charter schools can be managed by municipalities, private companies or individuals.
Keys Gate Charter School is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools. Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) is one of the largest providers of charter school management services in the state of Florida. CSUSA manages private and municipal charters for grades Pre-K through 12.
