DFYIT (Drug Free Youth in Town)
DFYIT is an organization dedicated to giving recognition to kids who choose to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Our middle school students are participating in this very worthwhile program where students actually get to lead! Officers are elected and members decide what activities are best suited for their club, including community service projects.
Honor Choir with Ms. Davis
The KGCS Honor Choir is sponsored by our elementary music teacher, Mrs. Davis. For students in middle school and 5th grade singers, Choir students will work on these skills: Group singing, solo singing (for those interested in solos) performance skills, sight singing, vocal technique, and other skills that will help prepare them for magnet high school choirs and fine arts performance schools. The KGCS Honor Choir will be performing in several concerts throughout the year.

National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society proud to announce our tutoring/mentoring program, known as "Reading Buddies" which services students in kindergarten through second grade. Every Tuesday, selected primary students are treated to one on one time with their middle school tutor/mentor who assists with reviewing very important skills in reading. The NJHS is also excited to announce its second year of participating in Project KAP, which is a service activity where middle school students assist Kinder teachers once a week with light teacher duties. Finally, the NJHS is also proud to announce our first annual Project PTO which provides child care services for one hour during PTO meetings.
Safety Patrol
The KGCS Safety Patrol team is made up of specially chosen fifth grade students. These students have shown themselves to be leaders in their classroom and within our school, on a daily basis. The Safety Patrol team assists with arrival each morning, greeting each person with a smiling face. The Safety Patrol team also jumps into action to help out with special events, such as school parades, special visitors, and other special events.
