K-8 Keys Gate Athletic Program
The KGCS Athletic Program offers a wide variety of sports for students to be involved in. Our elementary students have the opportunity to participate and compete in several sports that are offered here at Keys Gate. KGCS is a proud member of the Florida High School Athletic Association and competes with other member schools in 6th – 8th grade. The coaches stress the importance of teamwork, and character building. All students are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to participate. The athletes travel to other schools to compete in each sport. The coaches will equip them not only to become a better athlete, but also to become better at life skills.
K – 5 Athletic Program Overview
KGCS Elementary offers Enrichment/Club Sports (all sports include a uniform, and competitive sports include a chance to win a championship trophy) Congratulations to our K-1 Soccer team and 4-5th grade soccer TEAM CHAMPIONS for the 2011-2012 school year!
K-2 T-Ball: This program teaches the students the basics in hitting, fielding, and throwing in dynamic game situations. The students practice and play games on the beautiful La Ley Sports Complex. The students receive uniforms and are divided into teams that play against each other in team games.
K-5 Fall Soccer: This program allows the students to practice the basic soccer skills of passing, dribbling, and shooting. The games are played at the school campus, and the students compete against other area charter schools. This is a fun way for beginning, as well as experienced players, to have fun with a program that takes place exclusively at our campus.
K-5 Winter Soccer: This program allows our students to compete in a league at Highpoint Academy. The students practice at the Keys Gate soccer fields and play games on Saturday mornings. This league offers a more competitive atmosphere for our students.
K-5 Flag Football: This program gives the students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals in passing, catching, and flag pulling. The students will compete against other area charter schools. This program gives the students a chance to practice and feel "just like the Miami Dolphins"
K-5 Basketball: This program gives our students the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals in dribbling, passing, scoring, and team work. The students will also practice and play games at the 3-7 building. Our students compete against other local charter schools.
K-5 Cheerleading/Dance Team: This enrichment coincides with the basketball season. The students learn cheer/dance moves so that they can perform at the basketball games. What a wonderful way to show your KGCS spirit!
