Getting to Know Us

Keys Gate Charter School is celebrating its ninth year in the 2011-2012 school year! We educate students in K-8th grade. The school first opened in August 2003 and currently has 1600 students that wear the school colors of yellow and blue with pride! Our school mascot is the Knight and you can feel our school spirit the moment you walk in the door. Our Keys Gate Charter School family represents diverse cultural backgrounds. You will be kindly greeted and will love the feel of your surroundings. Keys Gate prides itself on being a family. We have several after school sports and activities throughout the year and our PTO sponsors several family-fun events. Come by for a visit!

Kindergarten Parent Night

Our fabulous music teacher, Mrs. Davis, conducted our second annual 'Learning is Fun' parent training. It was a night for parents to learn and practice strategies that will help their children be successful in school. What a great opportunity to get involved in your child's education!

Accelerated Reader

In its fourth year, the AR program is making great strides. The teachers work with their students to set AR goals. When the students meet their goals, we celebrate their success with a reward. At the end of quarter two, these students participated in an ice cream sunday party! Students who met their AR goal were invited to attend the party and enjoy a sweet treat. At the party, students received a heart dog tag to celebrate their success! The students had a great time. Thank you to our faithful parents that help us at our AR parties! The AR Committee looks forward to a successful quarter 3!

KGCS Spelling Bee

Congratulations to all our students who participated in our annual spelling bee! The top three students participated in the CSUSA Spelling Bee at Coral Springs Charter School in May. Great job KGCS!

STRIVE for Excellence

STRIVE is the character education program for Charter Schools USA. Throughout the year, teachers and students participate in service projects that demonstrate active citizenship in our community. Some projects include collecting Toys for Tots and creating care packages for our soldiers. Our teachers imbed the STRIVE 65 character traits into their daily lessons and select a STRIVE Student of the Month. The students receive recognition on our Student of the Month bulletin board.

We introduced our STRIVE Character Trait Dog Tag initiative this year! Each student received a dog chain to earn dog tags throughout the year. As a student demonstrated above and beyond behaviors in any one of the 25 character traits available, he/she has the opportunity to earn a dog tag for their chain. It has been an awesome way to recognize how our KGCS students STRIVE for excellence!
